Scotty McCreery’s “Bottle Rockets” Featuring Hootie & the Blowfish Most Added at Country Radio

Scotty McCreery’s “Bottle Rockets” featuring Hootie & the Blowfish was the Most Added Song at Country radio this week. The breezy new single garnered 110 radio adds at Country radio upon release.

“I am thrilled and thankful to country radio for making ‘Bottle Rockets’ the Most Added Song this week,” said McCreery. “It’s a dream come true to sing with Hootie and the Blowfish. They are royalty in the Carolinas where I grew up and ‘Hold My Hand’ has been one of my favorite summer songs since I first heard it as a kid. What a way to start the week before I travel to the UK!”

“It’s quite a thrill to have a cherished, old song of ours take flight again,” shares Hootie’s Jim Sonefeld. “Even more special to have a Carolina guy like Scotty reshaping it in such a beautiful way.”

Hootie & the Blowfish re-recorded “Hold My Hand” this spring just for McCreery’s “Bottle Rockets.” (The original version of “Hold My Hand” is on their RIAA 22x-Platinum Cracked Rear View). The track was co-written by McCreery, Brent Anderson, Derek George, Jeremy Bussey, Monty Criswell, Frank Rogers, Bobby Hamrick, Darius Rucker, Mark Bryan, Dean Felber, and Jim Sonefeld, and produced by Rogers.

HOOTIE & THE BLOWFISH CELEBRATE RIAA DOUBLE-DIAMOND CERTIFICATION FOR CRACKED REAR VIEW

Hootie & the Blowfish had an extra cause for celebration during the Summer Camp with Trucks Tour’s Nashville stop at Bridgestone Arena this Saturday, July 27. Having recently been presented with a plaque celebrating 22x Platinum certification during their appearance on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” band members Darius Rucker, Mark Bryan, Dean Felber and Jim “Soni” Sonefeld were joined by the Recording Industry Association of America’s Chief Policy Officer Morna Willens ahead of this weekend’s show for a special presentation of the RIAA’s prestigious Double Diamond trophies. The honor solidifies the band’s debut album, Cracked Rear View, among the top 10 best-selling albums in all of music history.

The celebration continued as the band took the stage later in the evening, with Forbes describing the show that followed as “a high energy celebration of a band whose music has remained timeless,” raving, “the music has never been better. Rucker’s voice is even richer now than ever (if that’s possible) and the musicianship with each and every band member is top notch. And they’re all still having fun with Mark Bryan, guitar-in-hand, singing, jumping, criss-crossing the stage, Soni jamming on the drums, and Felber better than ever on the bass.”

“Hootie & the Blowfish’s live set could’ve been Cracked Rear View, front to back, and nobody would’ve minded it. Instead, they, as they have often since playing more significantly together again for the past five years, endeavored to deliver more,” added the Tennessean. “The band, less tethered than ever to genre delineations — partly inspired by their lead singer’s 10 country chart-toppers and Grand Ole Opry membership — has a musical freedom amidst them now that adds immeasurably to their live experience.”

The Summer Camp with Trucks Tour runs through the fall with special guests Collective Soul and Edwin McCain, visiting arenas, amphitheaters and select stadiums along the way, including a homecoming to Columbia, S.C.’s Colonial Life Arena for the Gamecock alumni. The band will also headline Rucker’s own Riverfront Revival Music Festival in Charleston, S.C. this October. Hootie & The Blowfish Drop Fresh Take On Timeless Classic “For What It’s Worth”

Hootie & the Blowfish set the stage for a return to the road this summer with their release of their rendition of “For What It’s Worth,” the timeless anthem originally penned by Stephen Stills in 1966. The band’s version of this iconic song, recorded in 2017 during their studio sessions for Imperfect Circle, is finally emerging from the vault in conjunction with the kickoff of their Summer Camp With Trucks Tour.

During that first return to the studio in nearly 15 years, longtime producer Don Gehman encouraged the band – which has long prioritized songs that make a statement, including “Drowning” and even “Hold My Hand” as far back as their 1994 Cracked Rear View debut – to pay homage to one of the most influential protest songs of all time.

“For us, adding our voice to ‘For What It’s Worth’ is about more than just a great song,” front man Darius Rucker reflects. “It’s about standing up for what you believe in, speaking out against injustice and trying to find a sense of unity. In today’s world, where there is so much division, this song carries a message that is as relevant as ever.”
